Exploring Ammonia's Diverse Applications
Fueling Agriculture's Growth
Ammonia, essential for fertilizers, plays a crucial role in sustaining food production and soil fertility, with agriculture driving 80% of its global demand—an indicator of the rising need for green/blue ammonia in the future due to a growing world population.
Efficient Energy Storage
Ammonia excels as an easily transportable, large-scale energy storage solution, capable of conversion back into electricity through traditional combustion or innovative “cracking” methods, making it a promising, compact hydrogen carrier for sustainable global energy systems.
Green Shipping Fuel
Ammonia presents a nearly zero-carbon, -33°C transportable solution, aligned with the IMO’s 2018 commitment to a 40% CO2 reduction in maritime transport by 2030. The potential ammonia shipping fuel market surpasses current production by fivefold, offering a significant opportunity for the industry.
Chemical Revolution
Ammonia’s role in the chemical industry, constituting 20% of global use, drives sustainability by producing materials like fibers, polymers, plastics, and rubber; eliminating fossil-based ammonia production could notably slash the carbon footprint of sectors like packaging and clothing.
ABOUT LANH3
We will operate an ammonia plant in Louisiana that will produce 200,000
tons of ammonia a year. We will produce nitrogen onsite and collaborate
with hydrogen specialists to supply hydrogen, benefiting from proven
technologies. This allows us to make decarbonization efficient and
cost-effective. We currently plan to use blue hydrogen to produce the
ammonia as the immediate transition to green ammonia will not yet be
feasible with respect to costs and capacity. However, we will capture and
store the CO2, and will eventually substitute green ammonia for blue
ammonia. Due to the overall increase in electrolyzes, the price of green
ammonia will decrease over time and become more accessible. Will
source other raw materials from local suppliers to reduce transport
emissions. We offer a unique collaboration opportunity for multiple parties to provide an innovative and sustainable model for ammonia
production.
